The Thorne Trio is an award-winning wind ensemble known for its vibrant performances, artistic versatility, and passionate commitment to community outreach. Formed by Royal College of Music graduates in 1999, the trio has performed across the UK and Europe—from Buckingham Palace and Tate Britain to international festivals and concert halls.
Winners of the Philharmonia Orchestra/Martin Music Trust Education Award and the Anglo-CzechSlovak Music Competition, the trio has held prestigious fellowships at the Royal College of Music and appeared as semi-finalists in Italy’s Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition. Highlights include appearances at the Faenol Festival with Jamie Cullum and Jools Holland, and a celebrated recital at Prague’s Martinu Hall.
Alongside a busy concert schedule, The Thorne Trio are passionate educators, delivering workshops and performances through Live Music Now, Wigmore Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall. Their dedication to making music accessible inspired the commission of Century Dances by Cecilia McDowall, now a signature work in both their recitals and education projects.
